Step 1 – On this page, we have the iWork and iLife apps and also iTunes U. Let’s bring them together into a single folder, greatly reducing the amount of space they take up on the Home screen.
Step 2 – Tap and hold any app icon, then select Rearrange apps from the menu that pops up. You return to the Home screen, but now the apps wobble and display an X in the top left corner.
Step 3 – Drag one of the app icons you want to put in the new folder onto another app you intend to keep in the folder. When a border appears around them, let go. A new folder is then formed.
Step 4 – Tap the new folder with the two apps inside to open it. It’s automatically given a name but you can tap this and edit it if you want to call your folder something different. If you wish, you can tap the ‘X’ icon to the right of the name (which here is ‘Productivity’) to clear the title field and then start from scratch.
Step 5 – Tap the screen outside the folder to get back to the Home screen, from where you can drag more apps into the folder. If it contains more than can be displayed, they’re arranged in pages, like your Home screen. Look for the dots at the foot of the folder and swipe right and left to navigate through folder pages.
Step 6 – To remove an app from a folder, open the folder from the Home screen, tap and hold the app, choose Rearrange Apps then drag it out of the folder. When the last app is removed, the folder disappears. Press the Home button, or tap the Done icon (top right) to stop the app icons wobbling.
